Installation

Install Phyn from the official app store for your device, then connect it to your Jellyfin server so the app can load your libraries.

Phyn is a Jellyfin client. It does not include a Jellyfin server or provide media by itself, so you need access to a working Jellyfin server before the app can show movies, shows, music, books, or Live TV.

Get Phyn

Use the official store link for your platform:

Store tip: Use the store account for your platform: your Meta account on Quest, Apple ID on Apple devices, or Google account on Android.

Before you open Phyn

Have these details ready:

  • Your Jellyfin server address, such as https://jellyfin.example.com or http://192.168.1.20:8096.
  • Your Jellyfin username and password.
  • QuickConnect access if your server uses QuickConnect.
  • Network access to the server from the device where you installed Phyn.

If someone else manages your Jellyfin server, ask them for the correct server address before starting setup. Local addresses, remote addresses, VPN addresses, and reverse-proxy addresses can be different.

After installing

  1. Open Phyn.
  2. Add your Jellyfin server when prompted.
  3. Sign in with your Jellyfin account.
  4. Allow the device permissions that match the features you want to use.

Permissions can affect app behavior. Notifications need notification permission, casting may need local network permission, and downloads need enough local storage on the device.

Once installation is complete, the useful next step is connecting Phyn to Jellyfin and confirming your libraries load. After that, you can set up downloads, playback preferences, integrations, notifications, and Premium features at your own pace.

On Meta Quest

After connecting to Jellyfin, use Phyn in panel mode or select Enter mixed reality from the navigation menu for immersive playback. While watching, point your controller down or press B on the right controller to reveal the controls. Look downward to see the panel; you can grab and move it to a comfortable position.

If you cannot install Phyn

If this happens, check:

  • Your device can access its official store: Meta Horizon Store on Quest, App Store on Apple devices, or Google Play on Android.
  • Your device is signed in to the correct store account.
  • Your operating system version supports the current Phyn app.
  • The store listing is available in your country or region.
  • You have enough storage to install the app.

If the store says Phyn is unavailable for your device, use another supported device or check back after future platform updates.
