Listen to music in Phyn
Phyn can play music from your Jellyfin music library with native app controls, background playback, and operating-system media controls where supported.
Use this article when you want to start music playback, keep listening outside the app, or understand what to check when music does not behave as expected.
Before you start
You need:
- A Jellyfin server connected in Phyn.
- A Jellyfin user that can access a music library.
- Music files that Jellyfin can play or transcode for your device.
Play music
- Open Phyn.
- Open your music library from the navigation menu or home screen.
- Choose an album, playlist, artist, or track.
- Select the track you want to play.
- Use the player controls to pause, resume, skip, or adjust playback.
On supported platforms, Phyn can continue audio playback while the app is in the background.
Background playback: Your device may show album art and playback controls on the lock screen, notification area, menu bar, or control center depending on platform support.
If music stops in the background
If this happens, check:
- The device is not in a strict battery saver mode.
- Phyn is allowed to continue media playback in the background.
- The Jellyfin server is still reachable.
- The track can play normally when Phyn is open.
Expected result
Music should continue playing with native playback controls available where your device supports them.
