View media codec information

Media information helps you understand how a video file is built and gives support the details needed to investigate playback problems.

Use this article when support asks for codec details, or when you want to check the video codec, audio codec, subtitle codec, bitrate, or container for a movie or episode.

Before you start

You need:

  • Phyn connected to your Jellyfin server.
  • Access to the movie or episode you want to inspect.
  • The item detail page available in Phyn.

View media information

  1. Open Phyn.
  2. Open the movie or episode you want to inspect.
  3. Open the item menu.
  4. Select Media Info.
  5. Review the media details shown for the item.

Media information can include details such as Video codec, Audio codec, Subtitle codec, Audio channels, Bitrate, and Container.

Support tip: If you are reporting a playback problem, include the media information and say whether the same item plays in Jellyfin Web.

If Media Info is missing

If this happens, check that you are on a supported media item detail page. Some item types may not show the same media-detail actions as movies or episodes.
