Manage storage used by downloads
Downloads are stored on the device where you start them. Over time, offline movies, episodes, music, and books can use a large amount of local storage.
Use this article when you want to free space without removing anything from your Jellyfin server.
Check Downloads first
- Open Phyn.
- Open
Downloads. - Review the downloaded items on this device.
- Remove items you no longer need offline.
Use Delete download for local files you want to remove from this device.
What to delete first
If you are trying to free space quickly, start with:
- Full seasons.
- Long movies.
- High-quality or optimized video files.
- Items you have already watched.
- Failed or duplicate downloads.
Safe deletion: Deleting a download removes only the offline copy. Your Jellyfin library item remains on the server.
If storage is still low
If this happens, check your device storage settings. Other apps, cached files, photos, or system data may be using the space instead of Phyn downloads.
